The Neo Zoroastrian Project Surveys (SOAS)
WZO has received a request for our members and supporters to assist in academic research being undertaken by Ruzbeh Hodiwala at SOAS, University of London.
Ruzbeh writes, “I am a Ph.D. student at SOAS working with Professor Almut Hintze on an ethnographic study of ‘Zoroastrians-by-choice.’ I was born and raised in India and came to the UK in 2016 to pursue an MA in Iranian Studies at SOAS before beginning a Ph.D. in 2019. I have also been a WZO life member since 2017 and a recipient of the WZO-UK scholarship for the Ph.D.”
We hope you will assist this young Zoroastrian by participating in the appropriate survey.
Click on the above survey link if you are a Zoroastrian who was born into a family where ‘both’ the parents or ‘at least one parent’ – mother ‘or’ father – is/was born a Zoroastrian. You can undertake this survey if you have not undergone a Navjote/Sedreh Pushi ceremony but identify yourself as a Zoroastrian.
Survey I: For Zoroastrians-by-choice < https://forms.gle/bJcEsyJmAm6mkpuT9>
Click on the above survey link, if you were born into a non-Zoroastrian family – where both mother and father are/were born non-Zoroastrians, i.e. they were legally assigned a non-Zoroastrian identity at birth and you decided to accept the Zoroastrian identity by undergoing a Sedreh-Pushi ceremony; or you/your family publicly identified as non-Zoroastrians but privately remained Zoroastrians, so you accepted the Zoroastrian identity by undergoing a Sedreh-Pushi ceremony.
If you are a ‘Zoroastrian-by-choice’ who has not undergone a Sedreh-Pushi/Navjote ceremony or you are waiting to undergo a Sedreh-Pushi ceremony and would like to participate in the project, please contact the researcher at <firstname.lastname@example.org> or by completing the contact form at https://www.neozoroastrianproject.com/contact.
After clicking on the survey, you will see additional information on the eligibility criteria and have the option to proceed to a different survey based on your eligibility. If you are still unsure about which survey to complete, please contact the researcher at email@example.com
The surveys are best viewed on a device with a large screen and can take up to 20 minutes to complete.
A Persian version of Survey will be available shortly. If there are enough requests, the surveys will be translated into other languages.
